well fuck you too. it’s not like I would live and breathe fic like this if it existed or anything

It’s why no one visits Sherlock’s blog. It’s why Mrs. Hudson suggests that he might not need the second bedroom. It’s why John is walking through an empty building in the first episode, but then enters the perfect room to see Sherlock and the taxi driver in the building across. None of the crimes actually happen. It’s just John standing around in mostly unpopulated areas.

Santorum: Being Female is a Mental Disorder

cakemeister:

sleazeandhustle:

mrsjojharrison:

It has been my experience that when dealing with females, you need to treat them as though they have a mental disorder… especially those that are constantly seeking equality in the workplace, the military, and in the home. Women need to know their place and need to know when it is okay for them to speak. They were put on this earth for two reasons, and two reasons alone: taking care of their husband, and giving birth to his children… that is all. Any woman who tells you otherwise is obviously touting the liberal agenda of equality, and they need to be told the truth of their purpose. It is a disorder that can be fixed, but not until they go through several years of therapy to understand that they need to be subservient.

Dress Code Violation of the Day: Brigham Young University student Brittany Molina thought she was getting a love note when a fellow student handed her a folded piece of paper while she was standing around the school’s Provo campus on Valentine’s Day.
But when she opened it up, she discovered not an admission of attraction, but instead a strongly worded criticism of her attire.
“You may want to consider that what you’re wearing has a negative effect on men (and women) around you,” read the letter. “Many people come to this university because they feel safe, morally as well as physically, here. They expect others to abide by the Honor Code that we all agreed on. Please consider your commitment to the Honor Code (which you agreed to) when dressing each day. Thank you.”
Molina posted the piece of paper on Twitter along with a photo of what she was wearing when she received it. ”Gosh dang it,” she tweeted, “I’ll remember to dress in jeans, a sweatshirt and tennis shoes tomorrow. That way I don’t make people feel uncomfortable.”
According to Molina, the young man who handed her the note “was gone within 5 seconds.” BYU has not commented on this incident.

I’m sorry, but why would you gain the trust of inner city children, give them an opportunity to go on something as scenic, adventurous, and different (for those who have never gone, at least) as hiking, and then completely betray them by writing down what they say and posting it on a blog named GHETTOHIKES?

You’re not entertaining people, you’re exposing and making a spectacle out of children that probably look up to you not only as a mentor, but also as an upstanding parental figure.

Seriously, this is fucking disgusting.

Extremely appalling and a horrible breech of trust. Not to mention so fucking supremacist in so many fucking ways. I love how only hippie white folks have valid observations about nature and their floaty, hippie quotes are totally valid.

But the kids should just be glad that someone is bothering to notice them. Ten says that this is a Great White Savior type who is getting credits on a resume for this shit.

And shit like this is part of why so few POC communities trust volunteerism, and why so many POC parents are hesitant or flat out unwilling to entrust their kids to these programs.

Disclaimer: This is not meant to be funny. This is meant to satirize how carelessly a serious subject has been handled. It is also not a defense for Kanye; what he did was selfish and Taylor will never get that moment back. However, I felt it necessary to raise the issue of race. Age certainly wasn’t the difference, considering both incidents transpired in 2009 and Rihanna is only one year older than Taylor

I’d also like to add that if Chris Brown beat the shit out of Taylor Swift instead of Rihanna his ass would be in jail right now

Correction, He would be UNDER the jail.

"It’s not that Chris Brown is categorically unforgivable. It’s more that he’s no longer an acceptable vehicle for corporations to use to sell products to young adults. On a human level, I’m more than willing to eventually forgive Chris Brown, once he seems genuinely remorseful and changed (which, at this point, he definitely does not). But there’s no obligation to continue supporting him as a pop star. Chris Brown would not exist without millions of dollars of production and marketing and styling and whatever else. He’s not some troubled genius that exists on his own, creating pop music in a corner. He’s just a handsome and fit guy who can dance and sing pretty well. There are plenty of other people who are more than capable of filling that role and who haven’t beat a woman into a state of unconsciousness. Why not give one of them a chance to be rich and famous instead?"

Tumblr users launch petition to have fellow publisher removed as tag editor

mohandasgandhi:

producermatthew:

Tumblr users are asking 1,000 bloggers to sign an online petition that calls for a controversial publisher to be removed as an editor of an enhanced tag on the site.

The petition targets user “Ryking,” with the claim that the blogger has defended “rapists, calling women who disagree with him ‘feminazis,’ using gendered slurs against women, and repeatedly heaping praise upon men who have threatened to beat and rape women.”

The author of the petition says “Ryking” is not “a positive representation of the [Tumblr] community and should not be in a leadership/editorial position.”

The petition had close to 700 electronic signatures as of 6pm ET Thursday. “Ryking,” whose actual name is Alexander Ryking, is listed as the “Top Editor” on the site.

It took less than an hour to reach 1,000 signatures. The petition has been expanded for more.

Keep it going folks! If it was 1,000 within an hour, when we know PLENTY of people still haven’t seen it, this could be easily doubled by the end of the evening, I’m sure of it.

occupyallstreets:

Obama Is Arming Bahrain’s Dictator While Denouncing Syria’s Regime

Washington has been arming Bahrain’s ruling dynasty against protesters, and now demanding that the “dictator must go” in Syria. Why such a difference? Right – Bahrain hosts the US’ Fifth Fleet, the “free world” defender crucial in containing Iran.

They insist that the Syrian “dictator” step down from his post, while experts say the violent opposition receives not-so-humanitarian aid from the West to achieve its goals.

At the same time, Bahraini demonstrators face the grenades and tear gas the al-Khalifa dynasty has been importing from the US to maintain “stability.”

Last year, human rights groups and members of Congress forced the Obama administration to suspend an arms deal with Bahrain. But this time around, there’s a legal loophole that can be used to avoid Congressional approval.

Rallies ahead of the first anniversary of anti-Khalifa protests were violent enough to be stopped with military means – but not violent enough to get Western media attention.

More clashes with riot police marked the Bahraini opposition movement’s one year anniversary. After rallies ahead of the date, police were determined to prevent opposition members from reaching the Pearl roundabout, a significant landmark for the movement. According to various reports, there were many injuries and arrests.

“One of the most undemocratic countries in world, Saudi Arabia, is oil-rich and obedient to the West – which happens to be highly dependent on its natural resources,” Middle East expert Tariq Ali says.

It seems that many dictatorships are kept afloat as long as they can be of use.
