Queens, NY: Firebombers attack mosque, store, two homes

Four buildings in Jamaica, including a mosque, grocery store and two homes, were firebombed Sunday night by individuals throwing Molotov cocktails, multiple media outlets reported. No one was hurt in any of the attacks, but one of the houses, located on 107th Avenue, was severely damaged, forcing the occupants to seek shelter elsewhere.

The Council on American Islamic relations condemned the attack on the mosque as a hate crime and linked it to violent rhetoric on an anti-Muslim website, as well as other firebombings against Islamic centers around the country. As many as 80 worshippers were inside the Imam Al-Khoei Islamic Center, located at 89-89 Van Wyck Expressway, when it was attacked at about 9 p.m., according to the Daily News.
