Confirmed | The Wire’s Chad Coleman Cast As Tyreese In ‘The Walking Dead’
‘Walking Dead’: ‘Wire’ Alum to Play Fan Favorite Tyreese
There’s a new hero coming to AMC’s The Walking Dead.  The Wire alum Chad Coleman has been tapped to play fan-favorite character Tyreese in the zombie drama based on the comics created by Robert Kirkman, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
In the Image comics, Tyreese first appeared in the seventh issue, crossing paths with Rick and his group on the highway, with the former sheriff providing food for the former Atlanta Falcons linebacker and his family before joining the fold. The character eventually works his way up as Rick’s No. 2 following Shane’s death and becomes a love interest for both Carol and Michonne. The character is rumored to make his debut in The Walking Dead’s Dec. 2 midseason finale, potentially setting up another major reveal the way the series first introduced Michonne during the second-season finale.

I wonder what other PoC will they kill of to make room for him?

Well I guess we can bid farewell to the black inmate… or maybe Glenn (but I doubt it).

…yep^
Bye Black inmate.
I will treasure you as time allows. :C

"Ok we’ve been to ‘Total Fantasy World Inspired by Medieval Germany’ ‘Set in Mystical Medieval Scottland’ and now ‘Anderson’s Scandinavia’. They’re just going to the whitest places on earth on purpose now. It’s like a scavenger hunt for places that they can have plausible deniability for not including POC even as background characters."

Not only that, but Disney movies that are specifically fairy tales with no necessary historical basis are defaulted as “white.” Sleeping Beauty. The Little Mermaid. Cinderella. Tangled.

One can make an approximation when these stories take place in the movies, but the historical basis is unneeded, and certainly wouldn’t add or detract from the general story of the fairy tale.

But let’s look at Princess and the Frog. And Pocahontas. Where the presence of a POC character is justified by historical relevancy. This is because, as noted again, Disney assumes that white is the default, even in semi fantasy fairy tales.

And now claims of historicity work to exclude representations of POC from such movies. So what can we say about all this? Disney’s claims of historicity, even when handling fairy tales allows them to justify the inclusion or exclusion of POC in their films, though white is assumed to be a default.

Whitewashing isn’t just a game.

Every time I venture through the Fred Weasley II, Blaise Zabini, Roxanne Weasley, etc. tags, I see people calling out the whitewashing going on.

If multiple people are calling you out on your shit, maybe, just maybe there’s an issue. Yes, role playing is a “game” but the erasure of someone’s race isn’t.

Let an RP make the entire Harry Potter cast POC and everybody and their mother would flip their shit.

Erasing the small amount of POC there are from a book series you claim to love so much isn’t something that should be taken lightly.

I guess you just don’t understand, I don’t really expect you to. You wouldn’t know how it feels to be erased from damn near everything.

See the guys in this poster as the “heros” and stars of the film… They attack & rob a woman 8 seconds in to the film. Why the fuck would I or anybody els care for a bunch of criminals to sit though “hooked” and laughing with them to end..? What a shit angle to come at.

Yeah, why would I want to watch a movie about someone other than the run of the mill (White/middle aged/middle class) hero? That would make them like…an anti hero or some shit!
Like, a (refreshing, interesting) B movie premise with A+ carryout?
A sci-fi take on the recently popular horror/comedy mashup genre?
Dude, a film that focuses on a group that mainstream media likes to pretend doesn’t exist, in an atypical setting, let alone storyline?
Giving that main chav/criminal a character arc?
Man. Total let down.
Shit angle indeed, my good sir.
