If you’re heading out into the wasteland this Christmas then you may want to take one of these…
Traditional Aurora costume, no short skirts here!
and the extra 2 feet of fabric makes it 30 bucks more than the short skirt version! Yay Capitalism!
Photoset of Zoey (Left 4 Dead)
Costume by me (Straywind)
Here are some shots of my Zoey costume taken in my area. Stillvisions’ garage makes a pretty cool warehouse type setting! I’m thinking if I don’t get a haircut my hair might be long enough to re-wear Zoey for a bit at Youmacon in November. It might be a decent Sunday costume to wear before heading back to Canada. We’ll see if I can pack it!

Thanks for everything Rob.
I just, I don’t know…
I liked the previous two Cosplay Fever videos.
This one though, it feels exceptionally wooden, and it’s giving off a serious internet-toughguy vibe too. Like.. OH MY GOD I’M SO VICTIMISED BUT ITS OKAY I CAN TOTALLY BEAT THOSE HORRIBLE PEOPLE UP WITH MY GLORIOUS HANZO STEEL »>:/
Maybe everyone looks so wooden because they don’t particularly like the song or something but idk…
I might be alone in this, but it just felt so negative compared to the previous two videos. Less parties and celebration and more I DO WHAT I WANT OMG DON’T JUDGE!!1!
Grow up maybe?
If somebody doesn’t appreciate your hobby, just ignore them and don’t sink to their level, maybe?
Yeah, I’m not a fan of the direction this is going in.
YES! THANK YOU!!
I’m so glad I’m not the only one with this opinion!
Everyone on my facebook is praising this video so much and I actually can’t stand it.
I think it’s just terrible! The whole bit at the beginning just felt and looked so depressing, and it’s not even like I felt my spirits lifted by the end of the video, it still felt like it ended on a down note.
Considering their last two videos were so bloody good, and I love them so much, this was a massive MASSIVE let down.
And you’re so right! It feels totally wooden. I’ve been trying to think of a word to use all day to describe how this video feels.
I have to admit, these are my feelings.
Also I would’ve been happier with RATM all the way through :p
Why hullo thurrrr, cultural appropriation.
1) This be a white girl trying to be Asian or some shit. I don’t know.
2) It’s tagged “chink”
3) It’s also tagged “geisha” and “chinese”
4) I’m not sure why
5) And I’m just shaking my head, because none of those tags are accurate, nor do the words “geisha” and “chinese” equal each other, or relate to each other in any way, other than “You don’t know the difference between Japan and China”
RANT: WE´RE CULTURE NOT A COSTUME (OR SKIN COLOR).
I just reblogged a “we are a culture not a costume” post, I never liked these when they came up on my other tumblr’s dashboard only a vampire one made me laugh very hard and was worth reblogging, but for the rest of them I thought they were over all stupid. They were trying to tell people that we are not allowed to appreciate and use things from another culture. Yes, there are people who are jerks but there are people who use things in respect and pure appreciation for another culture.
For a long time I used some African jewelry and people often told me I shouldn’t because it was disrespectful to the black people. What people did not know when they said this to me was that I may look white but I have African and Native Brazilian blood in my veins and I respect both cultures with great love, even more than I respect the culture that made me born with white skin. Skin is only skin, I could have been born with my grandmother’s black skin, I could have been born with my mother’s curly hair, I could have been born with native features, but I was born with my father’s family’s white skin and straight as fuck hair and it does not change the blood pumping through my heart. Even if I did not have African back ground I don’t think using African jewelry would be disrespectful if used in a way it was clear I was not mocking anybody.
Well, before you go around telling people how they should not use this or that because they have certain skin color that does not apply to the culture they are showing appreciation for ask about their family, you might find out how stupid you are when you realize people have a lot more in their blood than in their skin.
And if you say things like “you have this skin color so you can use or do this or that” to somebody in my eyes you are just a racist fucker. I’m sorry, but that is just what you are.
Here’s one of the various problems with, for example, “dressing up as a Native American” for Halloween:
Society defines “Native American” or “American Indian” as a racial group. There are a whole different host of problems with this (for example, it erases the diversity of the thousands of cultures and tens of millions of individuals that lived in the Americas in the pre-Columbian era), but for the moment I won’t address these issues, I’ll be addressing a different issue.
So, if Native American is a racial group, akin to black, white, Asian, et cetera, then “dressing up as a Native American” by putting on knock-off stereotypical plains-Indian garb is as racist as putting on black-face and saying that you’re going to be an African American for Halloween. A culture, a race (even if race is societally constructed), an ethnic group is not a costume, is not a set of tropes and stereotypes.
You don’t get to be a Chinaman for Halloween, you don’t get to be part of the Jim Crow Show for Halloween, just like you don’t get to be a Native American for Halloween. I mean, you can technically do what you want, but the bottom line is that it’s racist.
My Halloween costume for this year. I just ordered it :)
Being racist for Halloween is super groovy.
