Today in history: December 29, 1890 - The U.S. 7th Cavalry carries out the Wounded Knee Massacre near Wounded Knee Creek on the Lakota Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. As many as 300 Lakota Sioux men, women, and children were killed, many shot in the back while trying to flee. Their bodies were left to freeze in a mass grave. Twenty-five troopers also died, and 39 were wounded (6 later died). In 2008 a petition was started demanding that the U.S. reclaim the twenty Medals of Honor that were given to the 7th Calvary for their role in the Massacre at Wounded Knee, to remove any recognition the US military bestows to its entities for the massacre, and to obtain the return of personal items taken from Lakota people at the 1890 Massacre. In 1973, the American Indian Movement (AIM) occupied Wounded Knee, noting its historic significance — a 71-day standoff ensued with federal law enforcement officials.

Israeli Apartheid: Tourists venture to West Bank to 'shoot terrorists'

fuckyeahmarxismleninism:

The white supremacists in Israel take the next step beyond “Trayvon Martin shooting targets.”

Summer camp, warfare style: Like a frozen turkey plunged into boiling oil, a group of American tourists descend from an air-conditioned van into the scorching heat of the West Bank. Flashing smiles all around, they march into Caliber 3, a local shooting range.

“Move it!” the Israeli guide suddenly yells. “Destroy that terrorist,” he orders them, and they charge, guns loaded, at cardboard targets.

Gush Etzion has become a hot destination in recent months for tourists seeking an Israeli experience like no other: The opportunity to pretend-shoot a terror operative. Residents of the nearby settlements, who run the site, offer day-trippers a chance to hear stories from the battleground, watch a simulated assassination of terrorists by guards, and fire weapons at the range.

Jackson State Killings, May 14-15, 1970.

JACKSON, Miss. (LNS) — Jackson police chief Pierce addressed the students. “Ladies and gentlemen, we have something to tell you.” He went no further. The police turned and began firing into the crowd of 200 students who had gathered on the campus of Jackson State College, Mississippi’s largest black university. A tape made by local TV recorded more than 30 seconds of uninterrupted gunfire as hundreds of rounds of ammunition were fired through the crowd into an adjacent women’s dormitory, suddenly spotlighted by huge police searchlights.
When the cease-fire order was given, two lay dead and dozens of wounded people lay scattered in front of the dorm and in the lounge inside.
Two dead. Phillip Gibbs, a Jackson State student who was walking with his sister to the dorm, was shot as he was leaving the building with his hands over his head. He died on the way to the hospital. James Green, a senior at nearby Hills High School, returning home from his nighttime job, was killed instantly as he stood across the streets from the dorm.

The shameful deeds of the British State in Derry on January 30th will always be remembered as Bloody Sunday, but often forgotten are its shameful deeds of January 31st 1919, or ‘Bloody Friday’.

“On Friday 31 January 1919 upwards of 60,000 demonstrators gathered in George Square in support of the 40-hours strike and to hear the Lord Provost’s reply to the workers’ request for a 40-hour week. Whilst the deputation was in the building the police mounted a vicious and unprovoked attack on the demonstrators, felling unarmed men and women with their batons. The demonstrators, with the ex-servicemen to the fore, quickly retaliated with fists, iron railings and broken bottles, and forced the police into a retreat.”
“An estimated 10000 English troops in total were sent to Glasgow in the immediate aftermath of the Battle of George Square. This was in spite of a full battalion of Scottish soldiers being stationed at Maryhill barracks in Glasgow at the time. No Scottish troops were deployed, with the government fearing that fellow Scots, soldiers or otherwise, would go over to the workers side if a revolutionary situation developed in Glasgow.

On 10 February 1919 the 40-hours strike was called off by the Joint Strike Committee. Whilst not achieving their stated aim of a 40-hour working week, the striking workers from the engineering and shipbuilding industries did return to work having at least negotiated an agreement that guaranteed them a 47-hour working week; 10 hours less than they were working prior to the strike.”

In memory  : AL-SHEIKH VILLAGE MASSACRE

thepalestineyoudontknow:

1 January 1948: On that night; around two hundred Zionists armed with hand grenades and machine guns sneaked into this small village (5km South East of Haifa). The attackers came through the southern hills (most possibly from Nisher Jewish settlement which lies about 5KM/ 3 miles south of the village). They attacked the houses on the edges of the village with hand grenades and finished off with machine guns killing over 40 of the Palestinians.
