i love how these “anti SJ” blogs will respond with vitrol to the posts that we make
but not the racism that caused it
they don’t care about the awful shit we experience
just as long as we’re not mean to privileged people while we’re responding to it
This is what I’m saying though. People don’t want to realize how self-serving they sound when they come into the conversation screaming about how not racist they are. It’s almost ALWAYS about them not wanting to look like racist idiots. When they’re exposed, THEY get upset, blame “SJ” blogs, call tumblr “toxic”, and cry about how terrible people are for not understanding how we hurt THEIR feelings.
Now how did the entire conversation do a 180 to focus on how we hurt YOUR feelings?
These are the people that everyone wants us to be nice to when they aren’t even giving us the decency to be sympathetic and hear us out. Then when you get angry at these people, YOU turn out to be the bad guy. It’s really disconcerting.
If people would lend me an ear and be quiet for 2 seconds instead of being so quick to feel attacked and attack me, then I probably wouldn’t be “attacking” them back.
“Those ads taking my words about small business out of context; they’re flat out wrong. Of course Americans build their own business. Everyday hard-working people sacrifice to meet a payroll, create jobs, and make our economy run.
And what I said was that we need to stand behind them as America always has. By investing in education, training, roads and bridges, research and technology. I’m Barack Obama and I approve this message because I believe we’re all in this together.”
I really hate the Western take on Eastern philosophies & symbols.
THIS. A MILLION BAJILLION TIMES, THIS.
What’s funny to me about all the “well you have to be willing to educate people nicely if you want equality” posts is how many educational posts I see crossing my dash from Tumblrs that exist specifically to educate people every day. And then there are the academic posts that come up from time to time from people who are “popular” that get very few reblogs versus the kitten pics or whatever. And all of that stuff is easy to find with Google or via Tumblr’s tag system. That’s before you get to the things found in libraries, on academic websites, & the ever present Wikipedia. The same people who get mad that marginalized bloggers won’t drop everything to hold their hands can’t be arsed to use any of the resources at their disposal, but bloggers are the problem? Farreal?
And that’s before we get into the things these asshats think they have a right to know. Nothing to do with stats, or who to vote for or against, no they want intimate personal details from complete strangers. They want pain porn & they want people to be happy about their questions. They want to satisfy their curiosity & maybe get a little thrill over how enlightened they are & then they’re right back to their lives still not having lifted a finger. And they think they’re not bigots, because they don’t hate anyone. They want everyone to be equal!, they just don’t want that equality to cost them anything. Not even a moment of discomfort, or actual intellectual effort. No, they want to be spoonfed & they refuse to see what’s wrong with that so somehow it’s everyone else’s responsibility to be sweet & kind no matter what rude foul shit they say. If you can’t figure out we’re humans without hand holding why on earth would we think you’re our allies?
Bang, bang, bang.

"A benevolent man extends his love from those he loves to those he does not. A ruthless man extends his ruthlessness from those he does not love to those he does. - Mengzi"
That quote is pretty amazing on a few levels.
First, it points out that you have to treat the people close to you correctly (with respect, justice) before you can do that for anyone else.
Second, that the fulcrum upon which right behavior sits is recognizing human worth - if you recognize humans as valuable, you extend better treatment even to your enemies. If you are capable of showing someone no respect as a human being, then eventually that kind of thinking stains your personal relationships as well.
We see this in kyriarchies where even the privileged police each other and hold each other up to unattainable ideals and punish variance. Protecting the ideal that upholds the privilege system means killing the humanity. Or, more often stated - dehumanizing others is how you dehumanize yourself.(via bankuei)
i think the reason why white people did everything they did to PoC is because
white people food is pretty bland.
i’d be pretty angry too if my neighbor’s food was tastier than mine.
and if their people were way better looking
and their land was way more fertile and spanse
and they had hella more natural resources
and their culture was way more rich and human-like
white people= the #1 haters of all time.
its all sheer and pure hateration.

i’ve reblogged this before but it never fails to be true
this has been my entire weekend
"One of the worst parts of Tumblr is that women of color are really treated as one entity: THE WOC. If you are labeled as a WOC it defines your every interaction on this website. If you blog about funny sexual innuendo you are “a powerful fierce sister who is unashamed of your sexuality.” If you blog about politics you are “a social justice blogger whose WOC view has long been suppressed.” If you speak out against misogyny or racism you are sent death, rape, and harmful threats.
From a male perspective, this is what I have observed. You have no personal identity. You can’t be yourself. Your name, your personality, your hobbies, the people who love and adore you they mean nothing. Every move you make on this website is viewed through this narrow tunnel where you are a WOC emerging from an oppressive force. You’re never allowed to just be yourself. And when things get out of hand and you delete your blog or go on a hiatus you are reduced to “another WOC.”"
This isn’t just a Tumblr thing. It’s all of the damned internet.(via karnythia)
Man, Half Blood Prince #2 really took the story in a different direction.
